Overwhelming in a poll police disagree that gun control prevents crime. While politicians like to tout chief of police views (who are often beholden to a mayor) most rank and file police don't believe gun control helps and some believe it hurts.

This thread is in part a response to the anti gun posters jamming up stupid remarks that NRA is to blame in the Mississippi officers fatally shot thread.

While I agree that most cops say that they oppose gun control, they are THE gun grabbers in the U.S.

Most of us didn't enforce the awb by Clinton
We didn't support making felons out of citizens.

Yes they are but when was the last time you heard of a politician physically taking a firearm from anybody? Their henchmen, cops, take the guns!

The gun control happens with the laws that prevent dealers from selling certain problems.

I was surprised when police overwhelmingly opposed a gun control initiative here in WA, and it went down to defeat by 71-29.

Police also opposed a background check law last year but this time billionaires like Gates, Allen, and Bloomberg carried the day.

There is little doubt that the average police officer is pro-gun-rights.

I've always suspect that it's more a matter of the segment of the population that police are drawn from rather than a philosophy built in their work life.

Every police officer that I've ever known had personal firearms at home and families that know how to use them.

Did you ever wonder how many of those were "confiscated" from citizens? A friend of one of my tenants regularly receives firearms from a relative in another state that is a cop. The firearms are stolen from citizens! Disgusting. I'm sure this goes on much more than we know of! It's what cops do!
