That's the rub. The government did do something. They bombed and killed innocent men, women, and children in the Middle East even though they didn't attack America which caused the problem as it pertains to America.

I have one question. Is Rand Paul or his followers willing to let another group of terrorists sneak into this nation, use our telecommunications and especially the Internet to deliver another sucker punch to this nation like they did at 8:46 and 9:2 AM on September 11, 2001? Are they dumb enough to think that the they will wear a sign saying lookie here we're the terrorists and are going to ********* good before they proceed to do the dirty deed?

I have one question. How much freedom and privacy are you willing to give up for security?

Quit engaging the OP. He's clearly pulling your chain or is absolutely delusional in thinking the progressive left supports the patriot act at all. The left has been the most vocal opponents of the Patriot Act.

The most vocal proponents are usually establishment republicans and moderate/conservative democrats.

There are a lot of constitutional Republicans that are against the Act too so opposition crosses the political spectrum. It's not left and right. It's usually establishment vs outsider.

The OP is clearly dousing the flames here. He's giving ya old hat conspiracies about Wall Street financing communism and that wall st and occupy are two sides of the same coin kinda talk. That's borderline Protocol of the Elders talk.

Make no bones about it the progressives are very firmly against the Patriot Act and have been since it started.

Last, Democrat /= left wing. That's silly.

I think its unfair that many ppl on the left know the difference between a libertarian, a neoconservative, the Paleo conservative, Blue dog democrat, etc etc etc but the right wing literally just lumps in all democrats as one giant group!

Learn the differences people! There's a big difference between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders!
