Yeah, really. It's like the Beirut Barracks bombing and embassy bombing are simply forgotten by the right wingers.

That's ok...i love to remind them.

Yeah...Reagan is a real Truman for that victory.

Saved the world from a bunch of Cuban construction workers.

That is impossible to say. It is entirely possible that ISIS would have arisen and deposed Saddam (or one of his sons) if we had never invaded. ISIS is now in Syria even though we never invaded Syria. How do you explain that?

What we do know is that ISIS would not have been able to take over so much of Iraq had we not precipitously withdrawn in 2010.

I don't know what Rush Limbaugh or Fox News has to do with any of this.

Liberals love to revise history from 30+ years ago because they think that like themselves, no one else reads history.

The 'New Jewel' Marxist movement had taken over Grenada in a coup in 1979. They had threatened to take American students there hostage; after all that ploy had worked for the Iranians around the same time. In 1983 leader Maurice Bishop was ousted by an even more radical faction led by Bernard Coard, who had learned his Marxism at Brandeis (on a full scholarship) and the U of Sussex. He had Bishop and others executed by firing squad.

The US Dept of state requested that an envoy be allowed to see to the safety of American students, and the Grenadian government refused the request. Reagan decided to take action.

Quote:
Liberal outrage over Grenada fell suddenly mute when the evacuated students arrived back in the US a few days later. Upon climbing down the airplane steps, the first students knelt down and kissed the ground...One student, Jeff Geller...[said] "Prior to this experience, I had held liberal political views which were not always sympathetic with the position of the American military...Well, let me say I learned a lot from this experience. To you, President Reagan, thank you for bringing us back to the United States."
(from The Age of Reagan by Steven Hayward, p. 322-323.

Reagan's approval ratings spiked upwards, and people like Tip O'Neil, who had derided the invasion, now said that it was "justified." Reagan visited the island in 1984, when free elections had resumed, and was greeted as a hero.

The U.S. should have never went in to Iraq in 2003, and Obama should have done what he said he was going to do and left them to their own devices. Bush, and plenty of others, were total fools in thinking that Iraq would have a democratic and inclusive governments (Which relied on 3 factions that hated each other getting along).

With Syria, stop intervening in there, a country that is totally unimportant to U.S. national interest. Let them fight each other, keep the U.S. out. There is no upside to helping any side there.
