I just heard on the radio, didn't say how much but said big doner. He never mentoned this in his reporting about the Clinton Foundation. He worked for Clinton when he was president and now has a Sunday morning program on ABC where he claims to be impartial.
There is already a thread about this by Laura in 'elections.' It is my understanding that a donation like this is considered a major breech of journalistic 'ethics.' It seems likely that ABC has rules regarding this, and that George S. violated.
He has now apologized for it. If it's his money, and nobody's business, then why apologize?
His money to do as he wishes and perhaps at the time that was the only job he could find or his politics was different.
No one's business but his own.
And, that's where you're wrong. Its an issue for everyone, but especially for the 2016 presidential candidates not named Hillary Clinton, because Stephanopoulos, as he has done in the past, may moderate a presidential debate (update: ABC News just announced that Stephanopoulos won't be moderating their GOP debate next year, presumably because of the backlash from his donations). That goes to neutrality and to whether he can be impartial. Moreover, and going to those same points, Stephanopoulos covers the news (he's a "journalist"). How can he be expected to impartially cover the GOP field if he's so tied, financially, to the Clinton foundation and Hillary Clinton is running for president? That should be everyone's business/concern.
But you already knew that MSM like ABC was biased (right?), and the Little Step is a long-time besties of the Clintons. So what's the surprise that he donated some money ($50K to him is like $1K to little people like us) to a charitable private foundation, albeit founded by the Clintons?
Little Step has to comply will applicable journalist standard of ethics. Whatever that might be.
His money to do as he wishes and perhaps at the time that was the only job he could find or his politics was different.
No one's business but his own.
Even if he's moderating a debate?
