If people were being rude by leaving early, fine. However, that was no reason for that woman to turn it into a race issue.

People leave concerts, movies, church services, and sports games early all the time, it's their perfect right to do it.
The valedictorian may or may not have been bothered by the early leavers, but I guarantee you that he was absolutely mortified by what the principal did.
There are two things here. One, is why would she get fired for what she said but the professor who made the comment about white students wouldn't?
If we are going to hold people accountable for what they say, it should be fair and equal.
That said, from what I've read this isn't the first time this teacher has made remarks that could be taken as disparaging to others. So it's really difficult to come to any conclusions here. Maybe she has had many chances.
She should be fire too.

I can tell you this. If I was the Principal, I would not have made those comments. There is no reason to make such comments.
Anyone with a bigoted mentality is the type of person not needed in any position of power. With such a mentality, too much risk of said person making decisions based on that. Harmful decisions at that.
