Colleges are not selling 'education' - they're selling CREDENTIALS.
You can learn any way, any time, any place, but without those credentials, that education won't comply with Labor laws, etc., etc.
If you want to drive down the cost for credentials, let government offer credentials - by - examination.
That would kill off the monopoly that accredited institutions rely on.
By all means...get the government further involved.
Why are college tuitions expensive and why do they increase yearly? The federal government backs college loans so in the case a student can't pay back a loan the creditor doesn't eat it. If banking institutions are going to continue to extend credit to students the colleges will raise tuition rates. Its a viscous circle and the federal government is to blame.
Bernie won't get any cooperation from the GOP on this one. They need to ensure that the coming generations will continue to lack the capacity for critical thought and be just as easy to manipulate.
From comments on FB I was reading....spot on.
Is the GOP against free education through the 12th grade? If someone doesn't develop a capacity for critical thought after 12 years of free education what makes you think another 4 years of free education will make much difference.
I have friends and family in Sweden who went to college; they just pay for their housing cost (or commute) and textbook. It's still significantly cheaper than America. Don't believe everything you read on the news/media especially from crappy unknown websites.
You still seem to focus on Sweden, what about countries like Germany, Norway, etc.? Indeed, even in Canada college is MUCH cheaper, especially in Quebec.

you don't get to argue the facts.
Sure they do. You ignored my other questions. At least people in Sweden don't need to attend college in order to make a living wage...
