I have 3 brothers, and I can assure you that nothing like that ever took place in our house, neither have I EVER met a woman who said a brother had touched her I appropriately. If this were common, I think I would have known/heard of at least one person who had experienced it.

So call him what you want: deviant, pervert, pedophile. What he did is not normal.
I agree. I have a brother and that NEVER happened to me. EVER.

While Josh Duggar might not meet the clinical/legal/psychological definition of a pedophile per se, I think we can agree that his behavior was deviant and cause for great concern.

Plus, the impact on the victims is the same whether he was 14 or 16 (old enough to be considered a pedophile). My heart aches for his victims.

You're right. Why is this even news? Molesting one's siblings is as common as stealing their toys or pulling their hair.

I agree, his behavior was inappropriate to put it mildly.

I am concerned since he did not receive counseling (as far as we know) about his children and about other children in the family. My heart also aches for his victims. I hope/pray their have not been any others since his original offenses when he was 14.

Siblings aren't the only ones doing the molesting. Get your head out of your ___, Mathlete.

This is what pissed me off the most. Those poor girls who were damaged first by the molestation, and continuing to be damaged by their own parents saying it was somehow their own fault because of they way they look. I was raised in a house/religion like that, and I know for a fact that kind of thing completely changes a girl's entire life, and not for the better. There will be problems that continue throughout those girls lives.

We're not hearing about any help the girls received. Did they receive non-religious counselling? Has anyone -- anyone at all? -- ever told them that they're not at fault? I feel so bad for the girls being treated like 2nd class citizens, being thrown under a bus to protect their oh so much more important male sibling.

Anna said she knew about this before she married Josh. I wonder if the married daughters (if they were victims) told their prospective husbands they had been molested before they got married, since that might have an effect upon how they relate to men?
I kind of understand why Jim Bob didn't go to the police until he was forced to. It would not be normal to get the police involved in a family matter like this. I wouldn't have either.

No. Sibling molestation is not something that routinely happens in families. That you think so is unsettling to say the least.

No ****, but the Duggars are the topic of this thread. But hey, in your world it's so commonplace, it's not even a crime. Go ahead. Keep minimizing it. You're showing your true colors.

It's much more common than anyone realizes. It is a HUGE TRIGGER for many people, as you can see from the responses here.

And not restricted to siblings (doing the molestation).
