If it pans out it represents a massive leapfrog in technology on the computer side instead of the steady moores law results. (which rapidly outpace humans)
I can see how this kind of hardware would make it much more possible, but don't you need software that's programmed to program so to speak?
I thought I read that they are working this kind of software? Or no?
Eventually, we will become a Society split between those that just want get by and those that want to excel. The people that want to get ahead in life will have to pay for the slackers. Oh wait, we are already there. I see min wage, fast food workers going the way of the ice and milk man. Better think about living on a welfare lifestyle, existing but not much quality of life. Our choice.
They tested self order kiosks in our mcdonalds. They were great and I much preferred them. Then they took them out
I typically don't go for self service type stuff, but this made the Mcds service much faster than usual.
I just don't get all the outcry about how low pay the fast food industry is.... yet factory assembly workers earn $9 an hour (here in IL) yet no one is marching for them yet. Why are they single out the food industry for wage reform?

"They" would be the SEIU who have their own agenda.
You make this sound overly simplistic. The thing is, everything is relative. Some people's life's will excel greatly, others not so much. You can make an argument we are already at that point compared to life 50/100 years ago - yet a large segment of society certainly do not seem pleased with life.

No work = no taxes = no revenue to the government.
Also means no medicare, no SS, no private investments/retirement funds.
Also means no other form of taxes to any government, city, county, state, fed.
And we'll all exist on a "basic income" ? Where will that money come from..the tooth fairy ?
You are describing EXACTLY why a basic income would be necessary. We are LITERALLY talking about increasing our productivity by a factor of 100X. And suddenly....you are worried about money? Do you even remotely understand the correlation that productivity is what matters? LOL.
A basic income is inevitable for this very reason. It doesnt matter if the government just prints it.
Without it deflation could be a serious issue.
LOL. Seriously...the first thing people think about when given untold riches is...OMG how will I pay rent?
ts a serious question I know, but recognize that a basic income is inevitable in order to avoid deflation.
I'll eat someplace else. Burger King if nothing else but I hardly ever go to those places. There are lots of other places around, pubs and such where you can get good food. Speaking of pubs if you're ever in the fine city of Cambridge Massachusetts check out the Plough and Starts just outside of Central Square. Hancock street I think, very good food. Better than you would expect.
I try to not use the robots or that auto stuff. I've never used an ATM machine, always go in and go to a teller, and never use the auto checkout line
