O.P., I like your use of the words "fetter" and "fuzz."

I believe the problem stems from the Puritan invasion back in the 1600's, bringing their anal, constricted, patriarchal creeds with them. It spread over the land like a rancid mustard; took hold everywhere. If a thing is seen as either black or white, that's less thinking (work) the people have to do, but keeps them in an infantile state.
Hence, the infantile views of gays, climate change, and other things that are non-issues to the rest of the world.
I take comfort in the waning impact of religion among young people here. Between that and the continuing deaths of the old farts, we'll be set aright sometime before 2050.

Puritans settled in New England and you see very little bigotry from the religions that derived from Puritanism. Homophobia in this country is centered in the evangelical and Southern Baptists. Back to southern white males who are worried that they are missing out on all the fun.

The reason bans on SSM passed in places like California was because blacks and Hispanics voted for the bans in large numbers.

This subject has been pounded to death. The less you bring it up, the less you will be outraged.

Too many people feel the need to force their own morality onto others while themselves get free passes.

You yourself could have made the choice to ignore the thread and let it die quietly. But no, you stoked the fire by calling it "degenerate". That's not being very helpful.

I don't care. Bring the subject up over an cover again and I will say the same thing over and over again.

Don't bring it up and save yourself some drama.

While I personally think marriage creates a stable society so the more people that can partake in it, the better, I think one of the problems is overturning votes in various states. I don't like that on any issue.

Voters in 31 states voted to define marriage as being between a man and a woman.

Just make it legal and you won't hear about it anymore.
