What the Apologist fail to see, is people in Islam are the ones that need an over haul, not the rest of the world. When there is peace between Sunnis and Shia they will have progressed enough to get along with the other people of the world.
I forgot about those 2 different kinds of Muslims.

Islam does encourage violence and jihad though. Radical Muslims would kill less radical / "moderate" Muslims even if they are 100% of the population. Islam is more frightening than what people think it is. Europeans have just realized that until it was too late; America is next.

Despite all the negative developments concerning extremist groups in the Middle East, they have had a positive impact on religious communities. Shiite and Sunni institutions in Egypt, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Iran agreed to denounce and condemn extremists, deeming their acts to be in direct conflict with Islam. The extremist voices calling for the killing of other Islamic denominations have been drowned out by calls for moderation, dialogue and cooperation.
Any extremist ideology is bad. Even Buddhists, which most people (aside from other religious extremists/fundamentalists) tend to view as being a genuine religion of peace, have militant groups in parts of Asia. Anyone can corrupt any ideology, be it Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, or Jewish, the latter having committed 7% of terrorist attacks on US soil, compared to Islam's 6%.
If all of it this is true, I'm glad they got this guy off of the streets before he really did anything. Hats off to the FBI for their intelligence services.
Anybody catch that true to form...the brother of this guy came out early on claiming he was shot in the back while talking on a cell phone and was unarmed.
We get these types of claims all the time anymore.
Gang member shot by police after firing at them? Aunt gets on TV claiming the kid was unarmed and was shot execution style as the cop stood over him.....nevermind that they weren't actually there.
It's happened with the Ferguson shooting, the St. Louis shooting 3-weeks after Ferguson as well as the gal that got shot by the homeowner in Detroit through his door. All family members lying about what happened to stir up public sentiment.

And they wonder why they don't get sympathy from society at large
Of course they are going to lie for their Brother, Family, religion or political group. Protecting the group that you identify with over telling the truth is a human trait. Self examination and seeking the truth is not paramount to them as it is in an advanced society that is not at war with others.
That is great, and I wish them well, but with 1400 years of contention between all of these sects it will be difficult. In my opinion I don't know why they even acknowledge being part of the same religion.

Seems difficult to impossible to follow the literal interpretation of documents written by ancient mankind. Following more recent religious people like L Ron Hubard or Joeseph Smith is equally impossible.

I feel the same about Westboro Baptist / snakehandlers / Old Testament-types too.
True of most religions, 2 people read the same texts and one goes KooKoo for Cocoa Puffs.
