Looks like this is going to turn into a "secret trial" with gag orders, protective orders on documents.
She won't even release the autopsy report to the Baltimore Police dept.
Only the prosecution and the defense attorneys will get to see them and they cannot utter one word about them either.
"Our time is now" and "as I work to deliver justice on behalf of Freddie Gray."
If the evidence supported her agenda she would put it all over the media to get justice on behalf of Freddie Gray.
Technically, she should be against the people she charges. Her interest to prosecute is her job. The question is did she make a mistake charging them too early and then compound her embarrassment by flapping her gums, too much. I have a feeling she's not long for her job.
I agree with you ... however I think that a good prosecutor is wise enough to avoid falling into the trap of emotion.
I am not opposed to prosecuting wrong doing by law enforcement officers, I just believe that this seems more like an appeasement of a howling mob than a fair and impartial process. Between the demographics of Baltimore City, the "trial by media" mentality, and the emotion do you really think these officers can get a fair trial? I don't which is why the trial should be moved elsewhere ... or an unbiased special prosecutor appointed to handle the matter.
Now they just have to get the right judge lined up.
true, but if they get the wrong panel of judges at the appellate level, or at the scotus, then the actions of the judge and the prosecutor can land them in hot water with the bar as well as the people.

They have the DOJ and WH behind them. That is going to count for something.
A few well placed phone calls is all it will take.

except that by the time this case gets to the appellate court, or the scotus, it will be past 2017 and there will be a new president and new DOJ, so they cant rely on obama and company to protect them.

Do you think they are going to care that far in the future ?
This is about "justice for the Black people in Baltimore".
Most protestors when arrested resist by going limp and have to be carried to the van. I believe the police are innocent and Freddie accidentally killed himself trying to self inflict injuries for a future lawsuit. It is part of the thug culture.
Yes, many protesters do that.
What you are saying is you can't tell the difference from someone who is pretending to go limp and someone who is injured. That could be said of most people who haven't dealt with numerous spinal cord injuries. So your background and knowledge lead you one way and mine leads in another direction. That is why the autopsy if it is released will shed some light on what happened and so will the court testimony. Right now all we have is a guess based on limited information which was what the OP was asking for.
As far as them being innocent on all the charges, I don't believe that, but they may be innocent on the more serious charges.
