Please show me where race was mentioned in the 14th. I'm pretty sure it says ALL persons.
Legal marriage in this country does not require reproduction, and reproduction does not require marriage. Sterile, and infertile people get married every single day.
The original intent was to be just on race but as we all know the constitution isn't abut intent but rather what it says. It says all people so that includes religious, racial, sexual and gender discrimination.
I'm gay and happily married my partner of 5 years this past Saturday in Chicago. It was a great ceremony and a huge reception. His entire family was there, my entire family was there, 140 of our friends came as well. Everyone was overjoyed and had a blast, it was a wedding. It wasn't a gay wedding or a same sex wedding - it was just a wedding. That's all we wanted out of it.
I've never been religious, my family isn't either, and neither is his family. I had no reservations about getting married. Religion had absolutely nothing to do with our ceremony and no one mentioned anything about religion the entire night.
Most weddings I've been to have been religious ceremonies and there's obviously nothing wrong with that. I roll my eyes when people say you're being an afront to religion when two men get married. We did nothing to disrecpect Christians or anyone else. We celebrated ourselves and we're legally married. That's what was key to us. To be legally wed and to share our love with our family.
If anyone can find a reason to be offended by that simple jesture that's their problem. You only live once though, and it's a short life. It's a pity to spend it being angry and upset over such things that have no impact on your life and the world.

Then it seems like if it was about race they would have specified race, not say "ALL persons" So I take that as meaning all persons, and yes that does include everyone.

But it was treated as just race for years even though there was no teeth to it.
If homosexuals can "choose to be "gay" than heterosexuals can "choose to be straight", or are y'all admitting to be different and not "equal".
In other words, you had an attraction to a straight person & someone of the same sex, is that right? So, you had options. Maybe you fooled around with both, probably had sex with both. Then you "chose" to be straight? Because that's what you're admitting to, you realize that, right?

That would imply slight demisexuality our bisexuality, not homosexuality. Imo, those see the only sexuality you choose to be anything...
Heterosexuality is the natural state of all people. It is only people who choose to do something perverse and deviant who call themselves "gays" or "lesbians".
So heterosexuals who choose to indulge in anal and oral sex are also perverse and deviant?
