all these doom and gloom predictors are generally way off base. Y2K was supposed to cause computers to think the century turned over to 1900, be confused and shut everything down. well that never happened.

then 12-21-12 was supposed to be a catastrophic end to civilization as we know it, and yet it has also come and gone with no issues.

and the global warming crowd has been predicting all kinds of nasty issues as a result of said global warming, and yet none of those have come true either.

the doom and gloom predictors have been crying wolf for so long that no one is listening to them anymore. well except for the chicken littles who believe the doom and gloom.

Claire Shipman, a senior national correspondent at ABC News, is married to no other than Jay Carney, the White House Press Secretary.
If those ties between the Obama White House and ABC News aren’t disturbing enough, the president of ABC News, Ben Sherwood, is brother to Dr. Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall, a special advisor to Barack Obama.
Virginia Moseley is a CNN Vice President and Washington Bureau Chief married to Tom Nides, a Deputy Secretary of State under Barack Obama. "
Which is why the alphabet networks are little better then state-run media news reporting under this administration. Probably also why Fox News has gone up in popularity.

LIE #1: It didn't say that New York would be underwater by 2015. It depicts a flood occurring in New York city in 2075.

LIE #2: It was a TV special predicting an absolute worst case scenario over almost the entire 21st century, it wasn't a prediction for the year 2015.

LIE#3: The 'unidentified people' were actually part of a contest where people sent in their own predictions of different years in the 21st century. They were literally made by strangers in their homes, trying to get on TV.

It was the story of a fictional protagonist who was born in the year 2009, based on an assortment of predictions from various people, and probably chosen based on which would make the biggest impact. I'm not saying it wasn't sensationalism, but at least get your facts straight.

The fact that the right needs to pretend that this was a news piece is pretty telling if you ask me.

But of course, the usual RWNJs don't care if they're being lied to, so as long as they're hearing what they want to hear... and that is why every thread on this forum is ridiculous.

This is simply what WOULD have happened if we did not elect our savior, Barry Obama the community organizer. Praise be to B.O., he saved us all.

Obama can't help it, he's an idiot.

No, the weather is the enemy, and all he wants to do about that is implement the left's standard economic agenda of tax increases, redistribution of wealth to the favorites of the left (not directly to the poor) and more power for the Democrats to micromanage and control our lives.

So, to answer your question, the current level of ridiculousness is about the same as that presented in the report linked in the OP.
No kidding:

1) the spiraling $18+ trillion debt - no problem
2) ISIL raping, murdering and enslaving people and cutting of heads of Americans - no problem
3) fifty year high poverty rate in America - no problem

but....

19 years with no change in the average mean global surface temps - that is treated like an emergency, a nine alarm fire
