I'm not thrilled with that either however, produce junk and you lose business. Or you over price the iconic Colt SAA. All people these days have been buying is a name. The quality left a long time ago. If I had a choice between a present day production Colt M1911 and a Springfield Armory .45 ACP, Springfield Armory will win out.

My AR is a Colt, but I don't think I paid for the name since the price was the middle of the road compared to other manufacturers. Same with 1911, which is also made by many manufacturers.

Wasn't there also a lot of family drama with the ownership? Or was that a different company?

Bushmaster makes an awesome M4 for the money. Armalite makes a good one but pricey. Then you get into the customized manufacturers realm where the prices really take off. Kimber 1911 products are pricey but excellent quality. Several State Police officers I know swear by them. Wilson Combat makes an accurized version of the 1911 however, you will pay a pretty penny. Springfield Armory for the money has the best 1911 pistols around.

My handguns are Sigs, but my point was about Colt pricing. I don't think they are that pricy. Or maybe your point is to say they should be even cheaper because they aren't that great.

Colt was famous for their handguns at one time really. there quality suffered from high cost to produce in USA compared to many more automated makers. Ruger was the first to hit their sales with loss wax process. I have a original Trooper which not many revolvers can compare to now days; IMO. Same with the older S&Ws I own. By the mid70's you could pickup either make; see and feel the loss of quality.

I am saying you can get a Bushmaster plus the quality for hundreds less than a Colt M4. Bushmaster is back ordered for months because they can't keep up with the demand while Colt spits out a few every now and then whenever they have the parts handy.

If I was to carry a handgun concealed, it would be my Sig P229 .40. Otherwise my other choice would be a Walther PPK/S .9mm kurz aka .380.

I so miss the blued S&W handguns. Whenever I see one with decent bluing, I snap it up.

I finally completed gathering one each of Colt's earlier production runs of the snake series of handguns.

You'll have to scroll down aways to chart going back to 1998 through 2012.

And why do you think people would be less willing to admit to owning firearms? Think now, why? Review prior statements about guns and those who own them you've made, including the cute little veiled insult you just aimed at me, and think.
How does that link answer my question? Am I supposed to feel it out?

Again this polling has been going on since 1972, there is no evidence that people in 1972 or 1980, or 1990, or 2005, were any more willing to respond truthfully or falsely to polls. Also, why wouldn't they refuse to answer? Why would they lie and say they don't own guns?

Again, your point about the polling makes zero sense and is based on fantasy thinking. Oh I don't like the results of this poll, so I'll just invent a reason why it's not valid. SMH.

conservatives consistently reject reality.

So you didn't look at the constant uptick in NICS background check data over the last several years? I would insult you, as you have me, by telling you that you're the typically intellectually dishonest hoplophobe, but why bother?

I don't know why people lie. Perhaps you can tell me why you do.
