If you want a debate then how about we start with the difference between a Socialist and a Communist. Lets start with your understanding of the difference.
Sure, it's easy, Communist has a mean despotic politburo, and socialism is a kinder, gentler version of the despotic politburo.
It seems that those on the right (@Bulldogdad and @no1brownsfan) would rather malign their opponents rather than enter into a meaningful debate. Are they then willing to agree that they lack the tools?
I have no problem with open, honest debate. What I have a problem with is when those debates turn to childish name calling and expressions of hatred. Once we go there, then the debate is over and he (or she ) who maintainstheircoolwins.
By using the phrase ---' he (orshe )' --- you are mocking the importance of gender neutral pronouns and just as bad, place the female pronoun in the inferior 'parenthetical' position.
Also, by claiming that the person who 'maintainstheircool' wins a debate, you demean individuals of certain racial, ethnic or national origin whose standard mode of communicating may appear more animated or enthusiastic than commonly seen in the dominant power structure culture.

The California liberals have found more phrases to be offended by. Here are some of the new ones.
"I believe the most qualified person should get the job"
"Men and women have equal opportunities for achievement"
"America is the land of opportunity"
"Everyone can succeed in America, if they work hard enough"
Why does it not surprise me that these ideas would offend them? I wonder when they'll add the word "constitution" to their banned vocabulary.

Nicely done. Now THAT is what I call debate. But I must reprove your admonitions regarding my use of the phrase 'maintains their cool' out of context in that it was specifically referring to the practice of 'childish name calling and expressions of hatred'. Therefore I respectfully request that my grade be elevated to a C+ at minimum and be given clearance to skip skip the 'Recognizing Microaggressions (sp?) Workshops'.

They can't defend this in court. If the students would just tell them to go blow it out their ear and they all use the phrases, the totalitarians at UC would slink off into the sunset.
