Does the US needs more political parties to vote for? (politicians, election)

Does anyone else think that the US could benefit from having a more diverse choice of political parties to join or vote for, as is in Europe. I mean sure there ARE more parties than just the Dems, and the Reps, but picking for anyone but them is usually viewed as wasting a vote, and the Dems/Reps have such an undisputed split monarchy on the political system, it's pointless to vote anyone else..
No we don't really need more parties. Just one good candidate who will actually do what the people elected him to do. Heck, we would even settle for that every third or forth election.

The challenge is getting them into the debates. If there's one thing Democrats and Republicans can agree on, it's keeping other voices silent.
Are you referring to often neglected yet existing parties such as the Green party. That party helped the election cycle in 2000. Ralph Nader.
