Funny how Republicans cry about Socialism. Maybe they need to look in the mirror? They love to point finger and play the "blame game". Maybe they're just trying to distract people from actual data.
Sorry, for using logic, critical thinking and statistics. Republicans love using name calling, scare tactics and boogie monster that are trying to hurt us and take away our freedom. lol
Um...."The Federal Government" can't support anyone because it produces nothing.
What some are, therefore, "dependent" on, are taxpayers. And you don't really want me to rattle off the programs and bennies that give "dependent" New Yorkers amost $40K annually, do you?

Here we go again, another Democrat trying to call out Republicans on an issue that doesn't matter by using a report whose methodology he didn't even bother to research. As has been repeatedly pointed out in past threads, many "red" states use more federal money because they tend to be the home of military bases and companies which work for the government. This report even shows that the methodology includes military personnel and civilian contractors as 2 of the 4 key factors that they measured.
Quote:
Return on Taxes Paid to the Federal Government (Federal Funding in $ Divided by Federal Income Taxes in $): Weight = 1
Federal Funding as a Percentage of State Revenue (Federal Funding in $ Divided by State Revenue in $ then Multiplied by 100): Weight = 1
Number of Federal Employees per 1,000 Residents (Number of Federal Workers Divided by Number of State Residents): Weight = 0.5
Number of Civilian Non-Defense Federal Employees per 1,000 Residents (Total Federal Civilian Employment Minus Total Civilian Employment of Army, Air Force, Navy & Defense Department): Weight = 0.25

When anyone drops "data" or "stats" showing something . . . our eyes glaze over. Easily manipulated numbers that can make both sides point seem valid even though they have dichotomous views. Anddddddd . . . Delahanty's point is correct: The Federal Government" can't support anyone because it produces nothing . . . but the money generated from the very states you are ridiculing.
Military interests play a heavy role in who gets the most money -- Where are most of our nukes located? .. Red States anyone?
Of course ... that's what I thought. The Fed pays more money out to the states that hold their military interests .. It's like paying rent .. The cheap rent states are the ones that the government has no interests in ..

Always remember that the regressive political platform is based on rich white people telling poor white people that poor black people are the cause of all their problems. Now and then, the rich people toss in some hatred towards "duh guberment!" to mix it up, while ignoring how dependent their states are on said government... as well as the corporate welfare that is often propping up their own wealth.
It would be funny were it not so destructive and pathetic.
What if, for example, a particular state can afford not to tax its residents at high rates because it receives disproportionately more funding from the federal government than states with apparently oppressive tax codes?
The author has no concept of math, I'll leave you to figure it out on your own.
