As president Jimmy wasn't all that liberal. One as liberal as many point him out to be now would never have won. McGovern and Mondale lost badly and they book ended Carter.

Jimmy was simply too trustworthy and nieve. He has taken more liberal positions as he has gotten older.

I wonder what this poll would look like if FOXNews did the poll.

whatever they were shooting for I think you did a good job of showing why the poll is flawed.

CNN doesn't lean liberal?

You've lost all credibility with that one.

Yeah and Fox doesn't lean conservative.

I'm not sure what northern city you are in, but I do see people here in the Cleveland area from time to time with Confederate flag stickers on their vehicles, t-shirts, ect... I'm sure that due to the knee jerk reactions we'll see more of it. Christ, I've never owned one, or even gave it a second thought about owning one, but maybe I will just to watch the progressive freaks heads explode. They want attention, so may as well entertain them, eh?

I went to South High School just outside of Cleveland. We put rebel flags on our cars because that was the school mascot. It had absolutely nothing to do with slavery though. It was simply a natural counter to the other local high school. North High School.

Just noting for others as I imagine you are aware.

I'm in no position to comment on the trustworthy part, but Jimmy Carter was far from naive.

He was the president in a very difficult transformational time in our history...coming out of Vietnam, Watergate, a huge financial mess, and a Middle Eastern malaise....none of which was his doing and no other president could've cleaned up inside of a 4 year term.

To me, he made one huge mistake; allowing the Shah of Iran to come into this country for medical treatment. The response in Iran should've been easy to predict given our shady history in that country. Granted, every other president would've done the same thing, but that doesn't excuse Carter who is a lot smarter than most other presidents.

FOX is Conservative, MSNBC is liberal.

CNN is neither. They employ Conservatives and Liberal and virtually allow their guest to go unchecked on both sides of the aisle unless they just outright say something that is false.

But again, that wasnt my point and we are getting off subject. I was talking about the flawed methodology of the poll CNN conducted, you can read it yourself by clicking on the link and hitting the bold words CNN/ORC POLL.

There are very few places where you are going to find a combination of 49% independents and 30% or more black households.

The smaller North Eastern states dont have the black population(Save New York) and are party affiliated as well.None of the western states have the party affiliation or black population needed to fit the criteria..

That leaves the Midwest and South, then it just comes down to cross checking with populations and party affiliations

HUFFPOLLSTER: A State-By-State Guide To Party Registration

in short, they polled the South.

What percentage of the folks they survey were black?

I'm pretty sure if you ask a bunch of Nazis if the Swastika is racist many would so no too..
