We have death panels already in this country.

They are called private health insurance company claim adjusters, who decide what's covered, what's not, what's experimental, what's not, what sort of treatment someone should get, etc.

uh... obviously your 95 year old mother is fall risk and should be supervised around the clock and Medicaid does not provide that. Either you are leaving your 95 year mother home alone and that's not safe or you are lying.

Well if the insurance company denies a kidney transplant, I think it's more of a death clock than death pane. Am i wrong?

You don't think the government will want to control costs?

Have you seen their financial ledgers? They are deep in the red. And somehow, people believe they are supposed to manage health care costs effectively.

They won't even have to be motivated by profit to give good service.

Medicare does her very well. Not 24/7, but very close coverage. She has home monitoring equipment of all sorts. It's quite the deal to see her check in in the morning. She refuses permanent placement, and is bound to fall again. The world is an imperfect place. Her world is more dangerous than mine, but we still have no death panels.

Do other countries have the amount of debt we have? No. Our government has a record of total failure when it comes to managing money. Is something going to change just because their are now managing health care? Don't hold your breath.

It will manifest itself as something where the government will use health care as a tool of leverage to advance or cut some program.
