Does it really matter though? We've had mass shootings with both legally and illegally obtained guns. To me, that pretty much means it makes no difference one way or the other.

So the government wants to do something, and fails even when it's authorized to do that something. How does giving it more laws to enforce make any since ?

Government employees at their finest!
Sounds to me that a small change needs to be made in the background check process. As it now stands, an open arrest record doesn't trigger a "stop flag," it just calls for a bit further investigation. However, if that further investigation doesn't result in sufficient negative information within three days, the gun is sold anyway.

I can see how abuses could occur otherwise, but IMO an open arrest record should trigger a stop flag to the gun dealer until the further investigation is completed.

You shouldn't come to that conclusion based on 1 or 2 mistakes over the years, it still prevented many people from getting a gun. This was a mistake that shouldn't have occurred because of the different jurisdictions . The solution should never be to make it easier for criminals.

The Confederate Flag manufactured his gun for him and gave it to him with orders to kill.
