Most charities that seek to address the needs of the poor, are bankrolled by federal, state, county and municipal governments.

One example of this is Catholic Charities, the largest Charity Conduit that receives about 62% of its funding from a variety of government sources.

Who complained?

Me and other guy are for charity to the poor.

Take a look at your local economy and how welfare reform will affect it. Every community probably has a dollar figure that reflects the economic impact of the poor. Landlord's receiving federal money for HUD housing, grocery store profits from food stamps, dentist, Dr.'s, clinics, health department and social service employees and the list goes on.

Instead find community service jobs for people on welfare wouldn’t it be a novel idea to give those jobs to people who want to work? So before you go taking people off the welfare rolls take a look at how your local economy would take a hit if all those free loaders were not cash cows anymore.

Give all adults regardless of income (even billionaires) or employment status that are US citizens $500-$1,000 a month. Paid via a national sales tax of 6% on non essential goods.

Government fills these positions with eligible people.

If there is no job available at the moment you will be eligible for welfare.

While on welfare you must continue to apply to jobs weekly.

There will be random drug testing of said people.

In addition, if placed in a job and you get fired numerous times for your conduct the job placement and welfare money will cease.

After two failed drug tests you will be kicked out of the program and welfare.

While on welfare you must do x amount of community work / service each week.

Could also have state owned factories or farms and put these people to work.
Aside from being intrusive, bigoted, and classicist, all of this cost a lot of money. That is what is hilarious about conservatives. They claim to hate bureaucracy, but they add all these requirements for benefits even though it means more overhead, caseworkers, and administration.

A system based just on income thresholds is less expensive and equitable.

In addition those on cash assistance and many other welfare programs already have to work or be looking for work. What you are describing is what is already part of the welfare system. These reforms were passed in the mid 90s under welfare reform. I noticed many Americans are uneducated about basic government programs. Many of the talking points are no longer valid and are based on the 1980s and early 90s programs. I think it is bizarre. But I blame the media for not really explaining how various programs work.

I know a woman with three little kids (1, 3, 4). The husband went back to Ukraine and doesn't pay support. You want her to go to work? And who will pay for childcare? You know how much it cost? She will earn maybe 1600$. Child care for 3 kids is about 1500. So they will live on 100$. Great.
Another thing: I prefer to pay welfare and not to deal with hungry mob that will come to my nice area and ruin everything.

Medicaid is welfare. It's a means-tested FREE to the recipients health care program for the poor. And totally unlike Medicare, Medicaid recipients never even have to pay one thin dime into the system to qualify for benefits.

Well we better do something. We are being flooded with poor immigrants. The illegals get the welfare through their children and refugees get welfare immediately.

CIS data shows that a high percentage of immigrants/refugees are on welfare.
DHS though "has no reports available"...par for the course.
