I'm not sure what this is, can someone please explain what a natural EMP and man made EMP is...
I know it's electricity but do not understand the rest....
Thank you
Natural EMP would be a big solar storm that hits the Earth and knocks out the electrical grid. A man made EMP is a bomb or other sort of munition that does the same thing.
EMP stand for 'electromagnetic pulse.' Basically it's a burt of energy that severely damages electronic equipment within it's range.
A natural EMP can only be formed from solar activity as far as I know. A man made one would most likely be caused by a a weapon. Nuclear weapons release an EMP upon detonation, though if a nuke goes of near you, the EMP is the least of your concerns. I believe there is experimental EMP bombs, but I don't know much about them.
Either one will spin our country out of control. A complete breakdown of society would happen within a week or so if you live in a large city. Those that live in the country will fare a lot better.
This is one of my biggest fears, followed by a total economic collapse.
If the government spent money on things that mattered they would be hardening the electrical grid to protect from this.
How do you harden the electric Grid
And by the way thanks to all of you for helping me understand this....I really thought I'd get a lot of those so called, smart remarks, and tin foil hat comments...so thank you!
also, what do you mean by break down in society....what do you think would happen?

You hear about this threat a lot, but some of it doesn't make sense.
I don't understand electronics well, so don't understand how it can wipe all electronics out.
Does it fry the wires to things connected?
If you just have batteries around that aren't connected to anything does it fry those batteries anyway?
If you have a generator not hooked up with no computer stuff in it, does it fry the thing?
How about a motorcycle or a tractor with no computer parts?
What gets fried in all these things?
