The long ROI on solar is an important factor as is the cost.
Most people do not stay in their homes for 10-20 years so they can realize the savings side.

Buyers will pay a premium for a house with solar power, especially in communities trending green, which is why I'm not worried about the possibility that we may sell this house before complete ROI. Our neighborhood may have its share of SUVs, but a significant number of them are hybrids. I've checked the comps. We'd be in good shape.

Uh huh.
This is more about reducing the amount of money people have to spend on their own needs.

[quote=Enigma777;40686379]This claim has been posted here many times beginning in 2008 (quelle suprise!).

I find it incredibly odd that our FPL bills have been steadily decreasing for the last 10 years. We pay almost $100 less per month in the summer than our all-time high bills of 2005.

Sounds like a partisan Chicken Little issue.

You did say decrease right

Oh, no, no, no. Those who are pushing this, like the Sierra Club, claim that this will save consumers about $8/mo. on their electric bill! This is why the Sierra Club is running ads all across America to tell us to call our Senators and tell them to vote for this!
