That was the point. The actor did it to get a reaction. The Northerners just chuckled and had little to no physical reaction. Southerners on the other had had a dramatic reaction.
As another poster already mentioned a lot of that is how that interaction would be culturally received. For example go to a nice part of Boston and insult some random person and then do it in a rough part.
Being directly aggressive is more of a northern urban thing and would obviously be received differently.

Because Southerners aren't as used to being around people who act like that in normal, daily interaction. If you are used to being around people who are cursing and aggressive in daily interaction, it's normal to you, so you don't react.
But when you are used to being around mostly polite people, someone bumping into you and cursing at you is seen as an aggressive act.
Since North Easterners are notorious for their rude and abrasive behavior, it should come as little wonder that these people would regard this sort of conduct as normal, because for them it is.
Southerners on the other hand are widely known as being among the most well mannered and hospitable people on Earth, so they would not be accustomed to this rude behavior the way that people from the North East apparently are.

Interesting study where psychologists asked people from the north and from the south to fill out a questionnaire and take it to the end of a long narrow hallway. They would be blocked by someone going and returning with a brief conflict in passing.
The psychologists found that subjects from the North tended to respond to the bump and the insult with amusement. They saw the angry person as laughable and the situation as silly. The Southerners reacted differently. For them, the insult was infuriating, and in the moment it produced pronounced changes to their faces and body language, which were not present in the Northern subjects.
But it didn't just stop there:
In later runs of the experiment, the psychologists tested the men’s cortisol and testosterone levels, hormones associated with stress and aggression. After the insult, Southerners’ levels of cortisol rose nearly 80 percent, while Northerners rose 33 percent.
Do you really think they have changed in twenty years? Twenty years is a blip. Republicans are still toasting Reagan and he was almost forty years ago.
Why be defensive about it? It's just showing the difference in reactions based on geography.

Northerners might have a tendency to be surprised & somewhat amused at the actor's anger at having to make space for a 2nd time, sortof like, 'You gotta be kidding me?' while shrugging their shoulders. The 'shoulder bump' would tend to make me think the person wasn't really playing with a full deck, I wouldn't hold a grudge against the person - it would appear as if they are already having a hard time coping.

In all honesty, I would chuckle and move on because for all I know, the guy is crazy. Certainly not worth getting worked up about.
