Personally, I see the US becoming a smog and polluted disaster like China without our EPA.

Quote:
without the EPA there would be a “race to the bottom” among politicians in states competing for business investment with fewer safeguards in one state against pollution flowing through the air or water to another state

They are going after everything except pollution.

Consider all of the actual environmental destruction it cares not a whit about: the amplified ultra-low-frequency car audio, the fart cans, HID lamps, city light pollution, GMO infections across farm boundaries, sodium fluoride in tap, pharmaceuticals in sewage....

The EPA HAS done some very good things to protect the environment in the past. However (like any government agency that becomes larger and larger) the EPA has lost course and is no just another political enforcement arm of the far left. Many EPA policies currently havenothing to do with the environment and everything about the US government controlling citizens and enacting a far left political agenda.

The EPA is currently an unelected "fourth branch" of the government that enacts laws with no congessional approval and no mandate by the citizens of the nation.

Does the o.p. think consumers wouldn't want clean air and water without an EPA?

Can you give some examples to support your statement in bold above?

Seems like the EPA is one agency created by the GOP that has done a lot of good!

What Has the EPA Accomplished?* Here's What the Environmental Protection Agency Claims to Have Done in its History.

It's trying to destroy the coal industry, when already the only things that come out of its stack scrubbers are water and CO2.

It's also publicized that it plans to tighten CO2 emissions standards on passenger jet engines. You know, on the thrust that keeps the plane in the air.

People cried when our country converted to unleaded gasoline too. Can you imagine what our country would be like today if we all had driven cars with leaded gasoline all those years?
