"I can't help it if you are incapable of seeing the problem with referring to any group of people as 'these people' let alone when complaining about their divisiveness."
How, exactly, should one refer to any group of people who's views/actions are different from your own or unacceptable to you?

To be honest, I think many people aren't interested in uniting people. Many people are going to say what they say, regardless of whether it unites or divides. And there is something else to consider. Since when have there not been severe divides in this country?
I don't know. I'd be interested in seeing what group was being discussed. I think you'd fine the phrase 'these people' is meant to invoke inferiority. 'These people' think they are entitle to money. 'These people' think money should buy them privilege. 'These people' think they can get away with whatever they want.
I tend to avoid using the phrase 'those people' if I can, unless it's for satire (which isn't uncommon). In a serious discussion I find just using the proper word for the group in question rather than trying to demote it in some way.
Do I think people need to be reprimanded for saying things like 'you people?' Depends in what context and in what situation, but never aggressively. There's a fine line being excessively politically correct to the point of insanity and calling someone out for being a ****.
