Cancer is over 100 different diseases. Mine has a cure for most (and new drugs have been developed and released in the 4 years since I ended treatment). In a year, I will be considered cured even though my diagnosis was stage IV. And at the tune of about $500,000, I don't think the medical industry is hurting because its advances cured me. Don't use this situation as a platform to don a tin foil hat.

I'm just sad that today, as I celebrate another year of life, Jimmy Carter is dealing with this blow. Holding him and his family, as well as all the lives he has touched by his humanitarian work, in my thoughts.

Jimmy is a good man who I disagree with politically. I wish him the best.

A good example of how truly wonderful people won't necessarily make a good president.

No big fan of his, however.......

His pre presidential career shows he was a patriot.

His post presidential activities prove he was a truly generous and humanitarian man, that shows his convictions as president were at least honest. More than can be said for many in elective politics on both sides and in between the party aisles today.

I wish him the best for the future.

CN.......

Jimmy's siblings died very young, 50s I think, from cancer. He has lived to 90! He still wants, according to what I have read, chemo therapy. [MOD CUT/off topic]

So sad to see this. Hoping that he receives the best care possible.

I also think he is a very, genuinely nice man. I met him once and he seemed like a good guy IMO. His family also came to the restaurant my husband worked at part time and he got to be a part of their wait staff. He said the entire family were nice people and they tipped well, which surprised him since most political types didn't lol.

He has done a lot of good in the world.

I am a staunch conservative, but I have always been a fan of President Carter. I am proud to say I voted for him twice, because he was the best man. I have always been proud of him. He is a patriot, a Christian gentleman, an honest politician, and not many can say that.

Sucks. Good guy. Lousy President, but I always liked him.
I really wish him well.

I am not a Carter fan. I still remember him trying to run the rescue mission from the WH. People died because of his incompetence. I will never forget his idiotic comment, "The Ayatollah is a good Christian."

Having said the above ... CANCER SUCKS.
