They filmed the women of their sorority. These women happen to look a certain way. Did they say they don't want blacks, Hispanics, and Asians, etc, etc, etc?

This is University of Alabama, most students are white folks from the south.

Not a newsworthy story.

There isn't a lot of diversity in sororities, not just in the south. The main reason goes back to segregation, white women started sororities for white women, at predominantly white universities. Black women started sororities for black women at their HBCUs.

Obviously there is no rule keeping black women out of the "white" sororities, or vise versa. There are however some old white women who would prefer not to see a black woman in their sorority but those old ladies have largely been told to go kick rocks by the young current members when it comes to membership selection.

It's similar to how a wealthy town can have more than one country club that has a certain "type" of members. For example, where I live there is are predominantly Catholic, Protestant and Jewish country clubs. Do members come from different religions? Yes, but it's still not "popular", people join where they know.

Default Sorority Recruitment Video Taken down- The Girls are too white, Skinny and hot.

Relax.

It's a sorority video.

Some folks really go out of their way to be offended.

But in their own sad way, they are amusing.

Lol. It's obvious that the author of the article does not know how sororities work. Whether they are black, white, or an Asian sorority, most try to get the hottest recruits they can in order to gain more popularity/status on campus. Not all sororities do but the ones in the south are the most notorious for this behavior. I thought most of the girls looked cute to be honest .

Social Justice Warriors will spout their pre-approved propoganda.

Listen for words like "triggered", "empower", "privilege", "patriarchy".

Seriously, Leftism is its own religion. It does not make you intelligent anymore than reading me the ingredient label off a microwave pizza makes you a chef.

I agree it's not a newsworthy story. A youtube search on Alpha Phi returns a plethora of similar "recruitment" videos from other parts of the US, including AZ, CO, and MN so it's not just a southern thing.
All these videos feature the same white-girls only motif, and include the same silly elements: glitter-blowing, football sillies, water games, etc.

Black women have our own sororities as stated earlier in the thread. They are very highly esteemed. Most young black female college students want to join our organizations. They are very popular

I'm not sure about Asian or latino sororities or native Americans or if they may be represented in mainstream/white sororities. But honestly, as an undergrad, I would have never considered joining a non-black sorority and I don't see an issue with this one being majority white due to that. Black people have lots of fraternal/Greek organizations that are extremely popular amongst us. Why join an organization we know nothing about over one that we have been told about for our entire lives (and who throw step shows that are out of this world!).

Rest assured, being a member of a top fraternity has its benefits. Man do I miss college.
