OK, I should not have said "you conservatives." Maybe "our Republican dominated federal government" would be more accurate.

Will they fund it? No. Funding this would be easier than constantly trying to defend the 2nd amendment.

Just because it would be difficult to get the funding doesn't mean it's not the best answer.

The current laws preclude forcing a mentally ill person to be hospitalized unless a danger to themselves or others. Otherwise, the law does not require mentally ill patients to take medication.

Are you advocating mandatory medical treatment for persons deemed mentally ill by their doctor who refuse treatment?

If you do, I think a thread on a need for a change in the law and politicians advocating for this change is appropriate. That is not the topic of this thread.

There's a reason for that. Black Liberation Theology Churches:

A Black Theology of Liberation - James H. Cone - Google Books

"Most whites, some despite involvement in protests, do believe in "freedom in democracy," and they fight to make the ideals of the Constitution an empirical reality for all. It seems that they believe that, if we just work hard enough at it, this country can be what it ought to be. But it never dawns on these do-gooders that what is wrong with America is not its failure to make the Constitution a reality for all, but rather its belief that persons can affirm whiteness and humanity at the same time."

Flanagan was a very mentally sick man, IC. His hatred of white people and specifically his two victims was not rational.

I'm trying to figure out how the killer knew the reporter and cameraman would be there. It is extremely unlikely he happened to be driving by with his gun, saw the TV vehicle there, and decided at that moment to shoot them.

That might be...but it kind of flies in the face of the argument that we just "need to enforce the laws currently on the books."

He parked outside the station, waited until the news van pulled out, and followed it?

They had been broadcasting live since the 5am time slot, this was the 3rd live spot they did that morning so he could have been watching and just driven over to that location.
