I know many posters on this forum have been excited about these new automated kiosks. Here's an article that discusses them further.

The machine that can flip burgers and make fries is coming soon.

Most jobs can be automated. If you think illegals were bad just wait.

The quote calls it a stunt to attract Wall Street investors as it doesn't apply to the Drive Thru, just in building customers.

I think it is the start of the move to automate these jobs to increase accuracy, profit, cleanliness, and performance.

As the technology expands, it will be cheaper than employees.

The self-serve kiosks also typically result in someone bringing your food to your table.

Yes. 45% of US Jobs can be automated within 20 years if we allow technological progress to continue.

I think it is foolish that some people argue that it will be first world countries begging and fighting over immigrants from 3rd world countries to fuel industry growth as native populations decline in first world countries like Japan, Germany, and etc..

They'll start them off inside where any problems with orders can be more easily addressed. Once all the kinks are worked out of the system they'll use them for the drive thru window. It'll all be in place before any $15 minimum wage can be adopted. Time magazine isn't a place to go for an educated view of how a business operates.

Yep.

Reduce workers at the cash register.

Next step, the machines that make the hamburgers quicker, cleanlier, and cheaper than $15 an hour workers.

I don't eat at McDonalds unless I'm drunk at 4 am with no real options. However, judging by the average McDonalds cashier's customer service, this is great news. They've had these kiosks for years at big box stores so it only makes sense to install them at every fast food place.
