When e-verify kicks in , many illegals will not be able to work here. If those who hire illegals are fined, they will hire American workers who need jobs.. I saw three dump trucks in NJ driven by illegals and they were women. Why do they hire illegal women to drive dump trucks? The lower pay grade for the illegals because they also get welfare benefits paid for by the American taxpayer. They can work cheaper because Americans don't qualify to work under the table and collect welfare nor do they want to.

Phony Farm Labor Shortage: We Need to Talk About It
Well, to be fair, our immigrant worker laws need to be updated. Farmers who use our legal system to bring in migrant labor to harvest crops run up against a slow, ponderous, inefficient bureaucracy, that serves neither the farmers or the workers.

Farmers crops often rot in the fields before the workers are allowed in, or they arrive too early and the sit around while the farmer feeds and cares for them for an extended period of time, and the workers might violate their visa to just go to another farm to harvest a crop that is ready.

The migrant workers and farmers not burdened by an ineffective bureaucratic system end up serving each others interests better. The migrants know where the work is and show up just in time to harvest and leave exactly on time. Combined with all the other incentives for violating our immigration laws, it makes our laws undesirable to follow.

I'm not trying to justify their violations of our laws, just pointing out that the migrant worker laws desperately need to be reformed.

Comprehensive immigration reform would be, increased border security, increased law enforcement, elimination of sanctuary cities, and reform of our migrant worker laws, and defines once an for all who is and who is not a US citizen at birth.

This is from the unbiased journalists over at HuffPo so it must be fact.

Donald Trump Is Killing the Republican Party*|*Henry Fernandez

It's all over for Trump. And it's probably already now also over for the Republicans. They just don't believe it yet.

Of course, the only thing "over" is any chance of a Trump endorsement from Henry Fernandez.

But, yet, many farmers use the guest worker visa because they want to be in compliance with the laws. Bland Farms in GA, for example, uses guest workers. How do I know this? When GA got tough on illegals, the sleazy farmers lost their illegal aliens. Meanwhile, groups like La Raza and LULAC, who know that illegals and legal guest agricultural workers are, for the most part, functionally illiterate, told them that the police were out to get them all. One of the owners of Bland Farms said he encountered one of his guest workers and saw that he was white as a sheet. So, he asked the worker what was wrong. The worker said he saw a police car go by and thought that the police would arrest him. The owner had to explain to him that the worker was here legally and had nothing to worry about. Incidentally, it was CBS that did this news segment.

If farmers hate the way the guest worker program is implemented, then let them take this up with their elected officials. There is no excuse for hiring illegals. Period.

The farmers have been taking it up with the politicians, but you know the only reform they want is amnesty, and more illegal immigration.

A migrant worker who visits, works, and leaves when his visa expires is not going to be a democrat voter. An illegal who comes and stays, gets a driver's license, etc... is a welcomed voter for the dems.

It most definitely is NOT.
Mwruckman is right on the money with that post.

This thread is reflective of the total ignorance of the participants. You don't know what is constitutional. You don't know existing law. You don't know Who can or cannot receive benefits, you don't know who is able to vote in this country. You all reflect total ignorance, intolerance and a complete misunderstanding of the root causes, impact, social and moral consequences of what you are proposing.
I fully expect that before this thread is done, some of you will suggest shooting all brown people on sight and letting God sort them out.
You all reflect a hateful, spiteful, cretinous attitude that flies in the face of everything Jesus Christ stood for.
I am thoroughly disgusted at the posters here, the politicians they hold up to as saviors and the evil turn My nation has taken.
Shooting brown people on sight won't be enough. As Packard Fan has correctly pointed out in this thread, many illegals have been here so long, are white and speak English perfectly so in the end, anybody could be a secret illegal. It could be that Italian guy down the street you've known for 20 years and is really named Jose'.

For the love of God, people, follow the laws of the land. Use the tools our fore-fathers put in place to run and administer our great nation. Senate bill SB744 passed in July 2013 by a 68-32 bipartisan vote has every solution you want. The wall, increased border patrol, overhaul of the green card system, immediate deportation of all felons, e-verify-mandatory. It's all there folks. Everything you ask for..........except immediate deportation for every one. You desperately want to punish these people by taking away everything they have and everything in their future they ever will have. For no other reason than hate and bigotry.

That will never happen. The American people will never stand for such draconian measures and they don't want a society that is worse than any totalitarian state on the planet.

You think Europe is in bad shape with all the refugees flooding the area? That will be a drop in the bucket compared to the global mess we create by rounding up 11-15 million human souls and shipping them back to a place that most of them are totally unfamiliar with.
If America does this, it will destroy the credibility of our nation with the rest of the world. No different than a child finding out that their favorite teacher is a pedophile.
We stand for democracy and human rights to the rest of the world. This act of callous disregard for human decency will be our undoing and signal the fall of a once great society.

Sorry for the rant but this hateful thread is one of the reasons I don't really post much here anymore. Coming to C-D, P&OC is like walking into a room full of poisonous vipers.

Kudos for Witutz for bringing up some real issues but the responses are so evil and misguided as to be beyond the pale.

Congress passed the Secure Fence Act of 2006 that Bush signed, authorizing the construction of a 700 mile double layered fence, so that part is already in place, it just has to be built.

Trump doesn't want a fence. He wants a concrete wall to replace the existing fence and to fill in the gaps.

I'd agree but, "illegal alien" ain't a race. ALL of their kind need to go; even red headed Irishman. Not just Spanish speaking Indians from LatAm.

Germany HAD to take in about 10 million people of German family from Poland, Hungary and so on after WW 2 AND Germany was 1 f'd up country 70 years ago with its cities flattened. Today it's doing VERY well. Are you saying that Mexico is so weak and inferior they can't take about half the number of people that Germany did? It sure sounds that way.
