a wall, or a fence, it's the same thing in this context.

A fence is not a wall and vice versa. Some chicken wire fence will not keep illegals out of our country. There was a concrete, double layered wall approved by congress already along 700 miles of the most porous areas of our southern border but never funded....go figure. It would help deter illegal immigration and would help the Border Patrol do its job more effectively. It was proven to work along a sector of our San Diego border. Not all foreigners coming here illegally through our southern border are looking for jobs. There are criminals and would be terrorists also. The FBI Director has stated as such.

Where U.S.-Mexico border fence is tall, it works

That's pretty weak and defeatist, but hardly surprising.
After decades of so many politicians looking the other way on illegal immigration, and then we just are expected to toss up our hands and say since sooooo many people have broken the law, it's okay now.

I wonder if that works with the IRS too?

In order to deport 11 million in a year's time(much less 'day one'), you're going to need a national immigration police force of over 400,000. Is that what Trump supporters want?

How are you going to round them up? Door to door searches? Once you round them up, how are you going to house, clothe and feed 11 million people until you can ship them to the border? And how are you going to ship them? Cattle cars? Are you going to have massive detention camps to sort out the legals from illegals, or just send them back and let Mexico sort 'em out? What if Mexico won't take them back? Mass executions?

How exactly is this all going to work?
We have to pass it to find out what is in it!
That's how successful politics works these days. The media endorses that strategy.

When I talk about building a fence or a wall on the border, I'm are not being completely literal, it does not have to be one or the other, I'm looking at being flexible hybrid. Remember, some sections are not suitable for a physical fence, so we'd have an electronic fence.

When Israel built their wall, it cost about $1 million per mile, and it was complex.

and in other places it was a solid 8 meter high concrete wall:

Does that work when buying an expensive home too?

I personally like all your suggestions. It's cheap compared to paying welfare and entitlements to 11 million people who will multiply to 50-100 million or more over the years. Hiring 400k Americans to throw 11 million law breakers out is a great way to

Reduce long term entitlement costs
Increase employment

As they get off the bus in Mexico we can hand them the paper work to come here legally. We could also hire tens of 1,000's to help build the wall along the Mexicam border, build the camps, process deportation paperwork. Good Lord, this is an awesome idea and your thinking hoss! There is hope for you.

For violating our immigration laws in the first time they shouldn't be handed papers to come right back legally. What's the point in that? They should be barred for 10 years and sent to the back of the line.

You are absolutely correct! See what we can accomplish when we all put our heads together. Let's add that they have to have a marketable and proven skill that is needed in the current job market before they can even apply. Along with, they have to work and earn benefits before they get a dime of them.

Any other thoughts? This is great..

500,000 volt electrified barbed wire stretched between 15-foot-high concrete pylons, tangles of razor wire, sensors, guard towers, searchlights, attack dogs, mines in a free-fire zone, automatic machine guns -- I think having that along the border would be pretty cool.

The border patrol could carry sub-machine guns and have cool insignia on their uniforms.
