Default Big Government

YouTube - (1/2) The Truth about Big Government

If you watch these two videos, do you find them credible? Do you believe that the ideas presented are correct? Did it change anyone's way of thinking about where we are as a country for better or worse?

Skytripper will become famous soon enoughSkytripper will become famous soon enoughSkytripper will become famous soon enough
After watching the video, the only thing I learned is it's NOTHING NEW!

Yes, it is very real and makes sense but the "People" no longer have a clue as to HOW to change any of it........short of another Bloody Revolution or a Civil War!

THIS IS WHY..........IMO, it no longer matters WHO we elect, from either party or any party.

THEY are only going to continue a "status quo" and are ALL puppets of BIG BUSINESS which now happens to have gone Global as well.

So......not only has America's Govt. gotten way too big......but it would have to appear that the ultimate "goal" short of self-destruction of humanity........IS for the creation of a ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT.......a New World Order.......controlling MANY a nation and their people.......for the endless benefit of the "few" and most "elite" political leaders and the elite of the corporations........which may also MERGE into ONE, HUGE, Govt.-controlled company in the END!
We will all either NEED to be employed by it, enslaved by it, controlled by it and AGREE to LIVE by it and be LOYAL to it........or else????
It's on autopilot and nothing can STOP it!
It's gradual and methodical in its mission to dominate!
It's an ENTITY............a very hungry BEAST and it devours!

I thought it was a pretty disingenuous video with a few elements of truth. It gave some facts without putting them in any context --- and leaving out some pretty important facts to mislead you into their point.

Example:

Early on, it infers that the reason for government is to protect us. It then gives stats on the Judicial Branch of government, making you think, "Whoa! So few of our taxes go to protect us!" But did you notice what they left out? Military spending.

Same thing with the GDP% spending --- 1906 vs. 2007. They left out a few little things like two world wars, national defense spending, highways, interstates, the US becoming an automobile-centered society, etc.

Their point that smaller, localized governments are more efficient and democratic is spot on. But their solution seems to be the old neo-conservative and Libertarian mantra of deregulation, deregulation, deregulation, deregulation. In other words, it really isn't about making government smaller, but giving Big Business more unfettered power.

So all in all, a few good points in the video amidst a lot of misleading info.

Neo conservatives want bigger government. Libertarians want smaller government. I think that Government should exist soley to protect the rights of the individual. Big business exists only by Government decree. Deregulation is a good thing, as long as things are out in the open to be examined by the public. I have always believed that every new law passed is another freedom lost.

I would subscribe that deregulation would increase business competition, as with the regulations we have now, it supports a monopolistic policy favoring specific companies. I am not advocating total deregulation (I don't believe ANYONE supports total deregulation), I would support deregulation so that a free market and competition can thrive. As it is now, competition is not thriving. I would like to see another Walmart competing with Walmart but as it is now, it won't happen with today's regulations. The problem with regulation is that it is made by Congress who are paid off by big businesses to make these regulations so that business businesses don't have to fear competition. Corruption is rampant in Congress and best way to get rid of it is to lessen the government's stranglehold on businesses by limiting (note: I did not say total) regulation imposed by the government.

The problem with that is that the Republicans are also in bed with Big Business. Big business doesn't discriminate along party affiliations. Democrats and Republicans don't discriminate on the color of money and the offer of power, they take it wherever it is offered. MOD CUT
