I know it sounds crazy, and it does to me to but you got to understand, this town is in the middle of the bible belt. Its a way of life. Dont criticize them for something crazy, just be glad its not coming to your neighborhood. These are people that dress up to go to wal mart. You have seen some of the slops at walmart. Its not going hurt anybody to wear a belt and pull of your pants but it will if they dont. This is mayberry RFD area. Is that really a bad thing. People move out of the city to get away from this lifestyle, so why should they accept it in their small town. Yes i know you going start preaching freedom and rights, but this town just doesnt want it.

Simple farmers, people of the land. The common clay of the new West?
I've often wondered how long the potato-bag pants craze will last. I first remember seeing young black men wearing this style around 1987 or so. Then of course later whites started wearing them.
So the potato-bag pants now have been going for nearly 30 years. Pretty amazing.
And btw, the efforts to ban them have been going on almost as long. In his run for the presidency in 2000, one of Al Gore's proposals was for new federal legislation to ban "gang related clothing," presumably including the potato-bag-style trousers. Having people not expose themselves is not big government.
So we should outlaw bathing suits? How about halter tops? I notice the good Christian councilman doesn't say anything about those. I guess he's okay with some types of exposure, but firmly against others. (Maybe he's a breast man?)

I think we've been misunderstanding Conservatives all this time. They don't want small government, they want small-minded government.

Enforcing dress codes is big government. I posted an article on the morality police in Iran. The local police would have to become the equivalent of the morality police in this village.
I may not like the style but I believe in freedom of expression. That's just me. Silly American that I am...
