But that has nothing to do with our discussion is it? A car is a vital part of our economy and infrastructure. If you can prove to me that a gun is equal in importance to a car in our world, then I'll gladly leave it alone.

I can prove it in my mind easily but I will never be able to prove it in yours. I am not fond of tilting at windmills.

Wait? No. Never wait, get the hell out of there.

Let the cops deal with the intruders. That's what your tax dollar is for.

while our military is the best in the world, the taliban and al qeada both are giving them fits in afghanistan. iraqi insurgents gave them fits during the iraq war. the afghanis beat up on the russians, the viet cong beat up on the US military.

in all cases, the russians and the US outnumbered and out gunned the opposition, and yet the opposition not only held their own, they gained ground in some cases.

but if you had read ANYTHING i actually wrote, i never said anything about going up against the US military, but rather SUPPORTING it should this country be invaded. but you wouldnt understand that because you have no reading comprehension skills.

It's not the government's job to tell me what I want and what I need. No yours either. I have lots of things that have no functional need.

If that were true we should get a refund. Cops don't stop intruders.

Here's a scenario I envisioned when my son was young and I was wavering on getting a gun. Let's say, I'm a responsible gun owner and ALWAYS KEEP MY GUN LOCKED IN A SAFE. Which, is what they all say - especially those with young children.

Then, I wake up in the middle of the night with some intruder standing over me with a knife in his hand.

Is my gun going to protect me in this situation? Maybe the intruder will give me a head-start whilst I unlock the gun safe?
