So there you have it folks, Ahmed Mohamad did not invent, nor build a clock. He took apart an existing clock, and transplanted the guts into a pencil box, and claimed it was his own creation. It all seems really fishy to me.
Given who his father is and how all the boy would say to the cops was, "It's a clock".... I'm going to go out on a limb and assume this whole thing was a setup to get the reaction they got.
They played a lot of people for fools, including Mark Zuckerberg and Obama.
This indeed looks to be a hoax bomb.
Edited to say: I hope the IEEE bans this kid from ever becoming an 'engineer'. Not that it looks like he ever engineered anything other than a hoax (along with his father).
Many aren't questioning the reasonableness of inquiring into what the fourteen year old was carrying.
What we question is the reasonableness of arresting him, handcuffing him, taking him to a detention facility, fingerprinting him and finally suspending him for three days of school. This treatment was heavy-handed under the circumstances and reasonable people would admit that.
I think we all ought to at least ask ourselves if this would have happened to a white kid, or even a non-Muslim teenager. Maybe the answer is that it would have. However, I am skeptical.
Frankly, I am a little tired of having every heavy-handed action in this country justified by someone saying "Remember 9-11, blah blah blah". Well a whole bunch of innocent people were killed by terrorists on that day, but it doesn't justify depriving everyone in the country of all their rights either.
They would probably have done the same to a white kid. Have you come up against any of the school "zero tolerance " policies in the last decade? They are something else.

If "muslims" dont like how they get treated here then why not go to some muslim country in the middle east where they wont be scrutinized for carrying a metal briefcase with wires hanging out.

Great link, thanks for sharing it. After reading that article, I'm inclined to agree with your statement above. Very sad if indeed the father used his son in that way.
They just followed protocol, if it has wires and goes tick-tock it must be a bomb.
Or it could be a bloody clock like the kid told them!
And by the way, aside from the fact that the mayor of Irving TX is a huge Islamaphobe and the school and the police blantantly denied the Mohamed's absolute legal right as a juvenile to call his parents and to have his parents present during any questioning, and the school's attempt to force him into making a written statement by threatening expulsion if he didn't.
“A child may not be left unattended in a juvenile processing office and is entitled to be accompanied by the child’s parent, guardian, or other custodian or by the child’s attorney,” Section 52.025.
Great if you love supposition and conjecture, especially when the supposition and conjecture confirms your preconceived conclusions.
