Hey, it wasn't the conservatives that came up with the concept of PC.
Perhaps but they've co-opted it and invoked it most often in their political discourse, to justify their views and try to inoculate them from criticism.
Originally, Political Correctness was a half tongue in cheek term used among the New Left in the 1970s to chide those who stressed appearances of doing the right thing as opposed to actually getting out and doing the needed tasks.
Since the 1980s and beyond, it's been appropriated by the right wing in the context to justify their views - and used as a cheap way to fend off criticism of their views by dismissing critics as too PC or stifling their free speech, or even proudly proclaiming rudeness, and lack of decorum as "proudly un-PC".
Which of course is total baloney. One is certainly free to express their views. And others are also free to comment on your views as well, and weigh the merits of your arguments on their merits. It's stupid and intellectually lazy to proclaim your views are valid just because they're contrarian, crude. Let them judge them on the merits.

You simply can't regulate or force people to be respectful. I find the most disrespectful people to be the ones yelling about political correctness the loudest. Take, for example, the black lives matter ignoramuses who crash an event, climbing on a stage (EXP Bernie Sanders) and yell and scream absolute nonsense in the mic they didn't pay for.
This just shows how much you don't understand. The Black Lives Movement has exactly nothing to do with being PC or not. It has to do with black people being killed by police in inordinate numbers for no crime or crimes that do not even remotely deserve death.

This country is dying over political correctness and its ridiculous. I am tired of people glossing over the things that are wrong and trying to make them sound acceptable. If you don't want people to speak their mind and what they believe the truth is then don't ask anyone any questions. I'm sick of all this racist crap - if you disagree with something no matter how minor you are a racist. Islam phobia if the followers of Islam want Americans to think better of them they would report when there is a loose cannon around, as in the Boston Bomber who was tossed out of his Mosque 3 times before the bombing. There was also an opportunity with the London Bus Bombing to have corrective action taken. So if you don't want to hear my views minus all the political correctness then don't ask.

I swear liberalism is a sickness of the mind. Political correctness is not right-wing, and it sure as hell is not conservative.
Political correctness is political fascism, by self anointed word police. They pick out a word or phrase, decide it only has one meaning; the most vile and repulsive. Then assume anyone using that particular word or phrase is purposely trying to insult, demean, ridicule or verbally assault and antagonize another person.
Political correctness is a tool used to control speech, to condemn complete strangers for the words they use. These word police think they know what other people are thinking, why they chose to use certain words, and deciding their intentions must be vile and mean spirited.
This has nothing whatsoever to do with the politics of left, right, liberal or conservative.
Do tell what other truly innocuous meanings these words have when one person uses them to refer to another person: k! ke, ni--er, fa--ot, wh-re, sl-t, b! tch, towel head, dot head, sp !c.
The reason we have so many people running around who are like this poster is because all those dirty hippies back in the 60s and 70s were not put down back then. Force should have been used against the anti American counter culture types then, and if that had been done we would not be dealing with all this PC today. I know that is all water under the bridge, but I look forward to a time when all this nonsense will be stood up to, when all these differences will be settled in this nation the old fashioned way; through civil war. After that occurs the weaker side will be eliminated and our nation can restore its values as the founding fathers inteneded them to be. All of this social progressive, socialist and self loathing nonsense will finally be removed from our culture. Until then we must endure more of their hippie commune mentality.

Try using incorrect transgender terminology on a California University campus and tell us it is total baloney. One is not free to express contrary views and PC is de rigueur.

Sorry, but I am horrible at linking articles. However, surely everyone has heard our UC system now lists six genders on the application for admission. Six genders? Who knew? If I were to sneer too much while saying that in certain circles I would be reprimanded.
It seems like they bring the "political correctness" argument into everything. If they're not whining that something somebody else said or did is "politically correct" then they're defending something offensive or stupid that they said or did with "I wasn't being politically correct". I have felt for a while now that to the right political correctness has become a go to argument that they trot out when they can't come up with a real one. Two from the Trump candidacy really stand out to me. The first being Trump's excuse that he insults women because he "doesn't have time to be politically correct" How the hell do you "not have time" to not insult people? The other was when his Iowa Co Chair, Tana Goertz, was on The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell and she said of John McCain took "the politically correct" route when he said that Obama isn't an Arab. So now it's "politically correct" to say that a person who isn't an Arab isn't an Arab??????????????????????????????????
BTW...it is progressive liberals who push political correctness, not conservatives.
