Pretty sure the U.S. acting like the world police already diminished U.S. reputation around the world, especially after the invasion of Iraq in 2003 that was based on lies.
Bush signed the SOFA in 2008 mandating all U.S. forces would be out of Iraq by the end of 2011. Obama tried to extend the U.S. stay in Iraq, but the Iraqi government said no.
The U.S. should have never intervened in the Arab Spring, and should stay away from the Israel/Palestine mess. The U.S. should get out of the Middle East and let them fight each other instead of them uniting to fight the U.S. when the U.S. intervenes over there.
If it was not for the United States, Camp David I & II would of never occured. The triadic Peace teaty between Israel and Jordan-Egypt would of never happened. If it were not for Israel, the United States would of never offset Soviet influence in the Middle East during the Cold War. If not for Israel, the United States would of never successfully emancipated Egypt from the Soviet sphere of influence. If the United States decided not to influence Arab nations with money, even harsher conditions would rattle the Middle East.
If Abbas is doing nothing that'll threaten Israel (or you), then why do you care about his proclamations seeing as how they're only making him look ridiculous?

He simply implied non violent means. Since when is that BAD NEWS? Even if he doesn't mean it, just uttering those words shows that at least he knows that violence won't work.

Actually, I think you would be...and that's the problem. Some folks seem to have a lot vested in perpetual violence and contrary to what they say, hope there's never an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The history of the Palestinian Liberation Organization is grim. The lineage of the organization has ties dating back to the 1972 Munich murders at the Olympics. To believe he is the messiah of peace and moderation to the political organization is a fallacy. Yasser Arafat and company have blood on their hands and so does Abbas. Abbas may of not personally picked up a gun or he may of not threatened nuclear annihilation (which would be silly because Palestine does not have nuclear weapons), but through its strategic mindset of political law-fare. Abbas has denounced binding agreements with Israel for a mutual negotiated settlement on its borders. Abbas has chosen to violate agreements by seeking unilateral action. He has played the victim card at the United Nations by portraying a occupied people with no escape. His political actions not only put his own citizens in harms way but will bully or buffalo Israel into a bad deal. Whether you believe Abbas is violent or not violent is your right, but one thing is for sure is his bad faith negotiation tactics are perpetuating a conflict that could of ended decades ago.
So we can go back to calling them the PLO, a terrorist organizations right? It's not like Abbas hasn't been skimming Billions into his pocket just like Arafat did.
The OSLO Accords were burnt to a crisp ..... they are no long even in place at this point.
