And would a 90 day waiting period solve?

Private family inheritance isn't our problem. Leave it alone.

"(6) ALL guns kept in a gun safe, unloaded and trigger locked; ammo stored separately under lock and key …"

There might be some merit to that as far a child safety goes, but it creates 2 problems: First, a gun is no good for self/home defense if it's locked up and separated from the ammo. Second, there is no way to enforce this.

Magazine capacity is a non issue. Mass murderers reload all the time. It's no big deal reloading 2 more times because magazines are smaller. You're trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist.

I would, however, support mandatory gun safety training. Although the lack of such training doesn't really play into mass murders, does it? In a sane world we would be teaching proper firearms handling, use and safety in our schools. Remove the mystery, fascination and the ignorance. We teach sex safety... why not gun safety?
You're kidding, right … ??? You think it's a GOOD idea to support an unconditional RIGHT to have guns for guys like Adam Lanza … ??? … and the Columbine boys … and the fella who shot Rep. Giffords … and the Colorado theater murderer … ??? Really … ???

So what would YOU do? Or do you think all these mass murders are just the collateral damage of a free society?

I've said this before ,
1.Remove exemptions for conviction such as mental illness, age, politicians, an so forth.
If the law stood the same across the board, there is no hope of getting off for any reason especially mental illness.
2. Death penalty should be strict and public.
3.Make carrying a gun and owning guns more readily accessible ,as well as training and teaching in schools.

Every society with guns that has become more restrictive, brought on greater problems.
The reverse is also true , that towns that have encouraged gun ownership town wide , training and practice , have fewer problems.
Mass shootings would not occur if the volume of folk carry.

The title of the thread is a non-starter. Better is "There is no way to prevent violence".

If the gun control people say they have the answer to gun violence then way is their answer to drug deaths? Ask them, see what they say.

Irrelevant argument. Drug deaths, you kill yourself. Gun deaths, you kill others. But it is another good example of the methods gun people use to avoid the issues and change the subject.

We are too far into the building of this civilization in America to reverse course. We can do some things to make it harder to own weapons, but that's just for the legal buyers. We can increase training requirements, but that's just for the ones going by the rules. It's too far gone, and to try and reverse the course by taking weapons or banning out their legal sale outright, will only lead to civil war and blood in the streets.

It's too late.
