I guess, if that's what YOU want to do. I myself have no desire to do so.

Immeasurably is right. Really hard to measure zero.

I highly recommend you travel to Africa and hunt elephants with a rock. That would be just right for you. I'll be happy to send flowers.

I'm not a hunter, I'm just trying to understand them.

For me, hunting is the planning, the anticipation, the preparation, the practicing, the camaraderie, the solitude, the waiting, the discomfort, the boredom, the excitement, the satisfaction, the disappointment. Its not easy to describe why we do it but its in our DNA. When attempting to convey this to an anti-hunter, who could care less anyway, its easier to just say "Yea, I just get a thrill out of killing stuff".

BFD. I do all that and feel exactly the same when I photograph the animals. Others feel the same when just viewing them. If you have to kill them to get your jollies then you're just a sicko.

That's your opinion. Hunting isn't illegal, poaching is. Like the 26 Elephants killed and left just to take their ivory.

Some of us fish and some just soak cork. You sound like a real cork-soaker.

Illegal, no. But kinda sick, right? You're not killing the animal for food. You're destroying a beautiful animal for your own pleasure.

Poaching is horrible. I'm not sure why you guys are bringing it up as any justification for legal hunting. Plenty of people are outraged by the poisonings, me included. We have organizations in the US that go to Africa to help hunt poachers. Here's one. http://vetpaw.org/about/

Many of the parks in Africa are protected by rangers with AK-47s with orders to shoot-to-kill poachers. They're vermin and I have no sympathy for them. But yes, the poachers are poor blacks just trying to feed themselves. Rich white folks don't have that excuse though. They're spending money to kill these animals purely for sport. Both them and the poachers are wrong as far as I'm concerned.

Yes.

Flying to another continent, paying tens of thousands of dollars to kill an animal, having a 3rd party distribute the meat to locals is a bizarre social construct. It begs the question: who would do such a thing?

If locals killed the animals on their own to eat, even to extinction, that would be a much more natural paradigm.

And that's why people who do this are seriously odd at best, psychotic at worst.
