DOJ pivots from ISIS to U.S. anti-government groups - CNNPolitics.com

Quote:
Washington(CNN) Domestic terror groups pose a greater threat to America than ISIS or al Qaeda, a Justice Department official said Wednesday.

To help combat them, the department has created a new counsel that will coordinate the investigation and prosecution of anti-government and hate groups.
Later in the article, they specifically say that there are no current laws that allow them to lock up "anti-government extremists" and "hate groups", so they're forced to find other charges to prosecute them.

Quote:
"What causes some confusion is that 'domestic terrorism' is not an offense or a charge," Carlin said. Therefore, domestic terror groups or actors must be prosecuted with firearms or explosives offenses, hate crimes or murder.
So you can't just prosecute people for their political views or for hating someone? They have to actually commit a crime? Oh, how inconvenient!

Anyone else amazed at the blatant fascism here?

Not surprising at all with this administration. They got caught with the IRS targeting scandal, so now have to find other means to intimidate and silence their critics. What a joke.

This is mostly what it all has been about all along.

I don't think it's just this administration, but the whole federal bureaucracy that exists regardless of who is voted in. Their job is to "protect" the citizens, but that leads to the desire to control everyone and everything. It's the natural progression of things...as Thomas Jefferson warned long ago. Definitely not excusing them, but it makes sense why they want to prevent any opposition.

I agree. This started with baby Bush and is being continued by Obama.

Bush also argued he could ignore due process if he wanted to.
