The administration put that in place to grab more money. The liberals on this thread are going to reply that it only applies to people over a certain income level. But the point should remain that selling your home has nothing to do with Medicare and President Obama and his friends used this as another excuse to slide their hands into people's pockets.

Knuckle draggers are holding this country back. It cost money to run a developed nation, get with the program. The US isn't special where it can defy historical norms.
Which history would that be? The one where the USA led the world in technological advancements over the last century? Man, we're so "backwoods" here, what on earth should we do??

Admitting what?

That GOP leaders in many states are making a point of reducing access to services that would/could prevent the need for people to go to ERs, etc.?

It's no different than cuts to school funding.
There is a certain segment of the population that intentionally starves these services and then turns right around and whines about how said service is not functioning as it should.

Yes, some of us know exactly where to point the finger.
If that's an "admission" so be it.

Couple that with a population that may have NO experience with having a "dedicated" PCP and of course people are going to continue to do what they've always done.

Of course, no solutions offered from the whiners, just more of the same negatives.
I will offer you a solution if you want so much.

Go with what Colorado and a handful of other states used to offer before Obamacare with a couple of small changes.

Let the insurance companies sell their private plans with adjustable coverages to all the healthy people that want insurance, in an open market.

Keep medicaid (free) for families and Child health plan plus (small subsidized premium and co pays for families with kids) that cannot afford proper medical insurance.

Medicare of course stays in tact.

Then offer an uninsurable health insurance plan for state residents that cannot get insurance coverage elsewhere, and subsidize it with a small surcharge on all health insurance plans so that People are not paying more than 8% of their income for health insurance, and the plans can keep a somewhat reasonable deductible.

It worked for 20 years in the state of Colorado (except the subsidy came from the state instead of health insurance premiums for the uninsurable health insurance) and while it was not perfect if you wanted health insurance you could get it, it was affordable, and you did not have stupidly high deductibles and premiums.

Last city I lived in, all of the Urgent Care facilities closed before 8pm and none were open on holidays.
One evening, I drove all over town hoping to find one so that I could avoid going to the ER with my kid.
No such luck.

There are millions of poor people in this country that live in rural areas or under-served inner cities that have no other option than the ER.

I am one of those who lives in a more remote area and our urgent care facility opens at 9am and closes at 7pm. Obviously emergencies happen before and after hours and that necessitates a trip to the ER. However, I have seen many people go to the ER during normal hours for completely normal things that could have been handled by a doctor's office. These people have not changed their habits post Obamacare. They are wasting our tax dollars and are a burden to the ER facilities around the country.
