My point is that Medicare is woefully underfunded as it is and needs higher taxes just to keep the current system viable.
After a health scare I realize that I, as are most of us, one permanently disabling illness or injury away from having to utilize SSDI and Medicare.
Of course it is very underfunded. As it is now, seniors get 2-3x returns for their money. Younger people would get less. But there is not enough USD money in existence today to fund all our future HC needs. So of course taxation won't cover it.
It should be very obvious where the shortfall will have to be made up.
$14.4t worth of land taxed at 10% = $1.4 trillion , enough for healthcare that is free at the point of service.
a typical $150,000 home has land worth 1/3 of its price, $50k, which is $5,000 / year for nationalized healthcare.
Now watch the Republicans, rentiers, slumlords, and miscellaneous economic parasites sht a brick.
What about elderly home owners? Apparently you have no problem with kicking Grandma out of the home she owns because she can't afford to pay more punitive property taxes?
My time is too valuable to go around clicking on links from websites with names like "Mr. Conservative."
Classic example of arguing about a source and ignoring the facts presented. And there are countless threads about GOP candidates afraid of CNBC, here is someone who can't even deign to investigate a website because of extreme prejudices.
The elderly are the wealthiest cohort of Americans, and they get more government help than any other cohort.
But if they can't handle it, let them sell their homes and downsize. That's what everyone else does.

Grandma would face a federal property tax, but grandma would get free healthcare in return. I'd say that's a damn good deal for grandma, and the rest of society.
It's amazing that you're perfectly fine to let poor people die in the streets without healthcare on account of hypothetical grandma maintaining her housing accomodations. Those are some twisted priorities.

Just increase the payroll tax on Millenials.
They voted for higher taxes, so they can afford it.
Medicare for all seems to be popular amongst the left yet I have seen them make little effort to fully fund Medicare as it is. It is pretty populist to promise goodies but not fund them. How is Medicare for all going to be funded?
None of them have explained how 'Medicare for all' would be funded. Those who receive Medicare paid Medicare taxes for decades before becoming eligible for benefits, and then STILL have to pay Medicare premiums for coverage. Does the left plan on making people pay Medicare tax for decades before they're eligible for benefits like the seniors have done? If not, what's the plan to fund the supposed 'Medicare for all?'

Oh, HELL no. I own two homes, both in high land value areas. On one, the assessed land value is 43% of the home's FMV, and on the other the assessed land value is 79% of the home's FMV. A 10% tax on private land would cost me over $110,000/year.
No, no, a million times NO!!!
