It's a sad day when water-boarding is discussed as having nuanced reasons for being an allowed practice, rather than banned as barbaric. Voting just encourages them, and conveys a a mantle of normalcy to something that's very broken.

Some people just don't take an interest in politics. I personally know people who never turn on the news or pick up a newspaper. I talked to a man a few days ago who has never even heard of Obama or McCain. Some people watch the news, but as soon as the subject of politics comes up they change the channel. Unfortunately we live in a time when watching American Idol is more important than following an election.

You have put into words why most who don't vote feel that voting is a waste of time.
A 2 party system that has repeatedly failed to produce candidates truly worthy of a vote.
Hillary a shrieking finger pointing harpy who relies upon lie after lie to make her point.
Obama a well spoken man that leans so hard left that he makes Pisa look straight.
McCain nothing more need be said.
The rest of the pack? A bunch of Reagan wanna be's. But none of them have an Iota of what made Reagan Reagan.
This may very well be the worst choice this nation has ever been given.

More agreed that the two-party system needs to go.
Actually, we do not have a two-party system. We are a multi-party democracy with an array of political parties including Greens, Communists, Nazis, Libertarians, Black Panthers, etc, etc.

The Communist and the Libertarians are always on the ballot when I vote. They just do not win much. If we had a parlimentarian system, they might pick up some seats. But we do not.

One of Vermont's Senators is neither Democrat or Republican.

This is very correct. But to get on the presidential ballot in most states requires such a substantial number of signatures and money that it effectively rules out anything other than the major two. Therefore, our system at the presidential level is de facto 2 party.

As a citizen of this country, I vote. I believe that my opinion will count. I am registered Independent (keeps from getting no mail during the campaign season!) and then I choose my party at the primary. Let's just say it's not the DEMOCRATS!

I invariably see Libertarians and Socialist Workers Party on the ballot. But yes, it seems most people are happy with a Democrat or GOP tag.

And I must say I am glad that the American Nazi Party cannot muster the requisite number of signatures.

I'm assuming you're talking about Bernie Sanders (I-VT). Let's face it, he's a democrat! He's about as liberal as they come.

This sums up most of my feelings on the current state of affairs. I still vote, usually third-party when I'm given the choice, but I can completely understand why people just throw up their hands and say "forget it." The two-party system is broken, and far too many people don't seem to care.
