One thing that doesn't get a lot of play, is that Mexico is unlikely to support any plans to ship millions of illegal immigrants back to its country - due to the fact that it would hurt the Mexican economy.
Usually, it is just covered in snippets like "given the importance of remittances, economically disadvantageous."
Perhaps it isn't focused on, because some might conclude it is economically hurting us to have them. However, why would Mexico accept millions of low wage/low skill people back into their country, considering it would harm their economy?
There is a reason after all, why Mexico has much more stringent laws against illegal immigration (and even legal immigrants getting citizenship).
I could give a rat's ass about what the return of illegals would do to Mexico. I do care about the effect of illegals on our economy.
As you said,

Don't worry, there is going to be NO deportations above and beyond the usual. All this
election-season bluster is just that, bluster.
Remember, there is a separation of power between the 4 branches of government(legislative, judicial, executive and wildly powerful, independent and bloated federal bureaucracy) ......in general, one branch is not going to get much done unless it has at least some cooperation.
For all the grandstanding, there won't be anything done. This isn't anything new. The ONLY president to ever do anything close to significant was Eisenhower. That was almost 60 years ago.

If trump gets elected there will definitely be deportations. He is not a liar and he does what he says.
The last report of figures was in 2013 that over $21 billion annually is sent back to Mexico from immigrants (legal/illegal) living here in the US.
Mexico has it good..ship their poor to the US and sit back while the money flows back into their country.
Other countries in Latin America are the same..remittance from the US are part of their budgets.
No country wants their poor back.
Cut off those transfers and watch Mexico sweat. They will be more cooperative with the deportation process.
