One thing that doesn't get a lot of play, is that Mexico is unlikely to support any plans to ship millions of illegal immigrants back to its country - due to the fact that it would hurt the Mexican economy.
Usually, it is just covered in snippets like "given the importance of remittances, economically disadvantageous."
Perhaps it isn't focused on, because some might conclude it is economically hurting us to have them. However, why would Mexico accept millions of low wage/low skill people back into their country, considering it would harm their economy?
There is a reason after all, why Mexico has much more stringent laws against illegal immigration (and even legal immigrants getting citizenship).
So? I couldn't care less what happens to Mexico. Mexico is like a boil on our butt that needs to be lanced. Let the corruption leak out and start over again.

and this matters because?
Their people, their issues to deal with. Why should the USA or any other country be responsible for Mexican citizens?
Cut off those transfers and watch Mexico sweat. They will be more cooperative with the deportation process.
There is no reason to not impose a 90% tax on all money transfers south of the border.
