Among the volunteers were two brothers – Syrian refugees who came to Seattle with their family a few months ago. The brothers volunteer at events like this because they say they want to give back to the community that's welcomed them.
Nabil Al-Salkini, 14, said he also "wants people to know that the image of ISIS does not represent us."
It isn't making me feel all "warm and fuzz". I am guessing they have a lot of spare time and with the cost of their relocation to the US taxpayer, they should be giving back.
We all need to keep in mind that those of the faith of Islam want world domination. For them, lying for the cause, is OK with their god. I still oppose their relocation here. We have no jobs and all they will do is bring their problems to our doorstep! If you look at the cost of resettling each one, that money would have went a very long way to help a homeless veteran.
Good article. I saw the Mayor of Louisville, KY on TV last night talking about the tornadoes that devastated the area earlier this year. He said the Muslim doctors were the first people to step up and volunteer their services.
The type of hateful rhetoric we've been hearing lately is what influences angry and emotionally disturbed people to commit hate crimes, whether directly or indirectly.
My the use of anecdotal stories sure works when you have the media on your side:
<0.1% of guns used in any sort of negative way- use stories like Lanza to fire up the anti-gun crowds and keep misleading that guns are an increasing problem skipping over the fact that they are used more in self defense then in a negative way (and handled better then police as well).
15-25% of Muslims are radicalized and the majority seeking to come over are military aged males- keep posting stores about refugees and use two teens helping out (to be fair, good on them) as your face of the refugee population.
I think it's a nice gesture too. Wish some of the lazy bums on welfare would volunteer as a way to pay back some of the money they take from taxpayers.
