Good thing the Turks are part of NATO and are on the fast track to destroy Europe, I mean become EU members.

BE is a reknowned country for producing high end shotguns like the Belgian Brownings.

"Liège Capital City Of Gunmakers.
Liège-Belgium, city of tradition in ammunitions, guns and equipment, is one of the oldest centers of gunsmithing in the world.
Ever since the Middle Ages, all kinds of arms have been produced in this city and its surrounding area, to the point that the Liège-made Weapons are well known in almost each and every country of the earth.
"

Maybe Italian shotguns were to fly under the wire. Maybe BE citizens have more guns than its government knows.

Unless the guns were 'street sweepers', shotguns wouldn't be 1st choice of terrorists.

Gas prices make bombs too expensive in the EU and shotguns are cheaper?

the Netherlands, amsterdam, gets apoplectic over arrows with broadheads. Shotguns would send them into a tizzy.

Guaranteed the company website doesn't translate as written......

"According to the company's website, the shotguns seized are the fastest pump-action rifles in the market, capable of delivering three shots in half a second."

Fastest handling has to do with lightweight, ergonomics perhaps, nothing to do with the rate of fire which is limited by the shooter's ability. Some people can shoot a pump gun faster than others, Experts making a living as competition shooters can work a pump stunningly fast. Shotguns typically have plugged magazines to limit fire to three shells. Unplugged 5 shells. then you have to take time to reload. Strange 3 is noted instead of 5....points to the writer with an agenda, poor translation ability and no subject matter knowledge.

This article is biased and or subject to poor translation in that implies these guns are special technology and no different than fully automatic weapons.

how fast can you move your arm forward ?? as required for each shot fired by a pump gun.

Shotguns were used in the Paris attack, among other weapons.

Is every person in the media completely ignorant about firearms? He repeatedly interchanges the term rifle and shotgun. The SXP is produced in Istanbul, Turkey. Sounds like a normal shipment of commercial arms that someone overreacted about.

Sounds like a normal import/export shipment.

From the article:

Quote:
The finance police, who are often in charge of port security, said that while customs rules had not been violated, the Turkish truck driver did not have the licences needed to transport the 781 Winchester SXP shotguns.

Pump-action Winchester SXP rifles are made for hunting and are not considered assault weapons, but police said they had "substantially" increased their border inspections in the wake of the Nov. 13 Paris attacks and subsequent alert in Belgium

Turkey is a known exporter of guns and makes many sporting arms as well as pistols. Belgium is also known for hunting. If the citizens want hunting arms, then they have a right to obtain them. This shouldn't be passed off as being related to terrorism

This happened on Tuesday.

BBC reported a Dutch registered truck arrived on a ferry from Turkey and 781 weapons manufactured in Turkey were found in individual boxes in the truck. Specifically, these were pump- action Winchester SXP shotguns, calibre 12-51 and 12-47.

The driver of the truck was cited for not having a license and Turkey cited the shipper for breaking national shipping regulations.

Belgium has historically been a European hot spot for arms trade, legal and illegal because of loose gun regulations.

This appears to be a legitimate shipment with the transport company not making sure the driver had a licence. Nothing to indicate intents of terrorism.
