Out here in the real world, the British homicide rate is about one fourth of the US one.
When you hear Allah Akbar, screamed...... Are you going to crap your pants, or grab for your firearm?
You have a choice. That is what freedom is all about. Choices. Choices you make. Not choices made for you by other individuals.
That is my point, owning a gun is just a false sense of security. Unless that gun is always on you, the chances of it being accessible in a time of need is no better than a coin flip.
You must be bad at math, 50% is greater than 0%. If someone asked you to choose a 50% chance of living vs. 0%, which would you choose?

You assume that you would have a 50% of living just because you have a gun. How do you know the criminal won't just shoot you first seeing you go for your gun? In that scenario I would be much better off not having a gun.
It is all chances, and a gun is nothing more than a false sense of security.

Your glass is half empty, mine is half full.
But that's fine, don't carry or own a gun if you don't want to, but do not infringe on my right to do so. I like the odds much better carrying/owning a gun.

I never said I wanted to infringe on your right to carry a gun, though I would like it to be harder for criminals to get their hands on guns, but that's me.
Also, your odds are no different than mine when it comes to carrying or not carrying a gun.....that is what false sense of security means, you think you have better odds than me just because you own a gun.

For me, I would say have the Republicans and those that are pro-gun come up with a solution that works. Anything I say would just label me as "anti-gun" and basically end any real conversation about this topic.
Yes, in my opinion....but then again those that a gun gives a false sense of security to are going to think it is actual security. Think of it this way, airport TSA checkpoints aren't going to curb terrorism in air transportation, but it gives a false sense of security to those going to board a plane.
