Saw an interesting article. It talked about putting a tax on meat that would be used to help the environment. They gave examples of the money collected could use for clean drinking water or help preserve park's. Think it is a good idea...thought's?

IMO any tax on food is immoral.

Sounds like the rich liberals are determined to make life miserable on the poor.

This. Food should never ever be taxed in my opinion.

I'm going to take a wild guess the people advocating for this are not suggesting a tax on vegetables. Nitrogen and phosphorous used to fertilize fields is also a huge contributor to the algae blooms and "dead zones".

These people may have an interest in the environment but the real agenda is too get people to stop eating meat.

Steak is already too darn expensive. Chicken is cheap enough for most of us. A sales tax on food is class discrimination at its very worst.

It will calm down those cow gasses, if taxed, thus cooling the earth.

Liberals are divided on that issue; many liberals support policies which mitigate the regressivity of their taxes and regulations, e.g. mitigating skyrocketing electricity rates with energy assistance programs.

However, I think the current trend among liberals is toward a position that 'climate action' is SO IMPORTANT that everyone including the poor must pay more in order to 'save the planet'.
